Altadena Heritage addresses its mission to raise awareness of our foothill community’s rich architectural, environmental, and cultural heritage by recognizing places that make Altadena unique. This work includes periodically designating sites and whole neighborhoods as Altadena Heritage Areas through our AHA! Program, annually celebrating gardens that give to the beauty of our streets in the Golden Poppy Awards and Garden Party, and holding other special programs that give members access to special places in our community.

Altadena Triangle Park Groundbreaking
Acting on encouragement from Supervisor Michael Antonovich’s office, park partners Altadena Heritage and Amigos de los Rios applied for and received Prop A (Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District) funding to improve the little park behind El Patron Restaurant on the southwest corner of Lake Avenue and Altadena Drive.

This AH “Third Thursday” presentation will feature a panel of experts with expertise in the recently adopted Los Angeles County Historic Preservation Ordinance and the Landmarking process. The program continues from where our very popular Mills Act Program event left off in March.
AltaDitty Hit The Right Note With AH Members
AltaDitty was held at Camp Honeypot in the lovely and eccentric garden belonging to AH members Michelle Huneven and Jim Potter. The event was free and open to AH members only, many of whom brought delicacies to share and participated enthusiastically in the singalongs.

This Altadena Heritage event will be curated and emceed by Altadena’s own Bill Burnett, singer/songwriter extraordinaire, who’s already assembled a stellar line-up of pros and amateurs to help us celebrate our community, and is looking to add more.
Spring Garden Celebration & Golden Poppy Awards 2016
A celebration of festive food, luscious libations, mellow music, captivating conviviality … and, of course, AH’s 2016 Golden Poppy Awards, which honor Altadena residents whose water-wise street-oriented gardens enhance our neighborhoods.
Docent-led tours of the new Waldorf School campus next door, featuring its preschool and biodynamic gardens were conducted.
