Golden Poppy Awards and Garden Party

Golden Poppy Awards and Garden Party

Altadena Heritage has held garden parties ever since its inception in 1988. In 2004, the Golden Poppy Awards were added to the annual Spring/Summer garden party event. These awards recognize gardens that “present to the street,” enhancing the community for everyone.

AHAD: Altadena Heritage Architecture Database

Altadena Heritage was founded in the early 1980s, when many beautiful old homes and mansions were being demolished and replaced with tract developments, placing our community’s architectural heritage in peril. Members at the time did a comprehensive survey of the existing pre-war homes, and conducted research on builders and architects.
