Altadena Community Center
April 18, 2024, 7:00 pm

This will be an opportunity to hear local arborists talk about Altadena trees and answer your questions. The Tree Committee has booked tree specialists, Nick Araya and Rebecca Latta, for April’s Third Thursday session.

Ask an Arborist is part of an ongoing program to promote Altadena’s tree culture and foster responsible stewardship of all our trees.

You can submit questions for the arborists prior to the event, along with any photos or other files that might be relevant. Go to Ask an Arborist to RSVP for the event. If you have a question, you can submit it there along with supporting materials.  The form will guide you through the process.

When submitting questions:  Please include context such as tree name, age, sun exposure or other information that would clarify the situation.

When uploading photos or other files relevant to your question: Please document your tree issue with a close-up photo, a photo of the entire tree and a photo showing location of tree and surrounding context.

All questions should be received by 10:00 pm on April 7th to be considered for the live event. General RSVPs will remain open until April 15th.

The 2024 Golden Poppy Awards

Student Art Contest, and Garden Party

Saturday, May 18th • 2:00 – 4:30 pm

We invite you to join your neighbors to celebrate the beautiful front yards in our town. Teams of dedicated judges have been walking and viewing every street in town to find the gardens that best “give to the street”.

We will be holding this outdoor event in one of the premier gardens in Altadena. Mark Dizik and John Oden have created an amazing, beautiful landscape on Midlothian Drive. The yard’s design process was featured in an episode of Landscaper’s Challenge and we are so lucky and grateful to have access to this wonderful space for our ceremony.

Food: An assortment of delicious foods will be served along with wines, beers, cocktails, and other beverages. Music and Program: Details coming soon.

Student Art Contest: 3 local high school students and their teachers will be presented with prize packages. Winning and other student artwork submissions will be on display.

Tickets will be available for purchase beginning February 15th, 2024. Members will receive a promo code to use during checkout to receive a discount. Pricing: Details coming soon.
