LastCallOasis

On Tuesday, March 25, Altadena Heritage is sponsoring a free screening of the movie Last Call at the Oasis , followed by a brief discussion of local issues. This movie night, to be held at the Altadena Community Center from 7 to 9 pm, will include fresh-popped popcorn, and is the third in our ongoing water-education series.

According to the makers of  Last Call at the Oasis, the global water crisis will be the central issue facing our world this century. The good news is that we can manage this problem, but only if we are willing to act now. Join us in watching this powerful 90-minute documentary shatter myths behind our most precious resource. You will see defects in the current system exposed, examples of communities already struggling with the ill-effects of poor water management, and stories of individuals championing revolutionary solutions. All this, and refreshments, too!

A short discussion after the film will further localize the concerns it raises and connect them to our situation in Altadena. Now that we are facing a record drought, it’s critically important to educate ourselves so we can make the decisions needed to ensure safe and effective water systems for the future.
