More than 130 people gathered at the distinctive Green Man Lodge on May 21 for Altadena Heritage’s 13th annual Golden Poppy Spring Garden Celebration and Awards. Steve Pribyl provided shimmering live music on his uilleann pipes, an Irish folk woodwind related to bagpipes. The usual abundance of food came with wine and bubbly supplied by board member Gail Casburn of the Altadena Ale & Wine House, and beer donated by member Mark Jilg of the Craftsman Brewing Company.
Learn how to nominate a historic place for local landmark designation in unincorporated communities of Los Angeles County during the “Landmark THIS!” workshop presented on Saturday, February 4, by the Los Angeles Conservancy in partnership with Altadena Heritage and the County of Los Angeles.
Guests will be entertained by Robert S. Hilton and Breeze Smith, who perform improvisational music on an array of instruments, both conventional and unique. Robert plays creations of his own design, which he builds from repurposed materials, and Breeze is an expressive percussionist who can coax just the right sounds out of almost anything!

This AH “Third Thursday” presentation will feature a panel of experts with expertise in the recently adopted Los Angeles County Historic Preservation Ordinance and the Landmarking process. The program continues from where our very popular Mills Act Program event left off in March.
